The saga continues! NHL’s iron man Brent Burns found a new team
Colorado Avalanche has signed a one-year contract with veteran defenseman Brent Burns. The contract is worth one million dollars and includes three million dollars’ worth of bonuses.
Burns, 40, represented the Carolina Hurricanes for the past three seasons. Last season, he recorded 29 points (6+23=29) in 82 regular-season games and 5 points (1+4) in 15 playoff games.
In his NHL career, Burns has played a total of 1,497 regular-season games (261+649=910) and 135 playoff games (24+56=80). He first played seven seasons for the Minnesota Wild and then 11 seasons for the San Jose Sharks. Burns has won the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman once in his career. In his best season, Burns scored 83 points in a Sharks jersey.
Burns is currently on an impressive ironman streak of 925 games played. His consecutive games streak is the fourth longest in NHL history. Ahead of him are Phil Kessel (1,064 games), Keith Yandle (989), and Doug Jarvis (964).
