League’s top scorer: here is the new team
The Swedish forward Sebastian Wännström, 34, who represented Sportia and Ässiä in the league, is returning to the rinks of his home country. Wännström, who has not played at the beginning of the season, is moving to the SHL team Malmö Redhawks.
According to Malmö’s announcement, Wännström’s contract is short-term. Wännström will join the team immediately and is available right away on Saturday when Malmö faces Växjö Lakers.
Wännström started last season in Norway with Stavanger Oilers, playing 26 games with points of 10+10=20. He moved to Sport in February, playing 13 regular season games with stats of 1+1 and eight playoff games with points of 2+0.
Wännström also moved to Sport during the previous season, back in November. At that time, he played 27 regular season games with stats of 6+5=11 and one playoff game.
Wännström’s best season in the league was 2020-21 when he represented Ässiä. Wännström won the league’s goal scoring title, achieving an impressive total of 33+13=46 points in 58 games.
In his career, Wännström has played over 300 games in the SHL. Most recently, he played in his home country during the 2019-20 season.
