Liiga information package

How to play?

The 50th season of the Finnish Ice Hockey League will start on September 10, 2024. The reigning champion is Tappara, which won last season’s finals against Pelicans.

Instead of the previous six teams, the top four teams of the regular season will advance directly to the quarter-finals. Teams placed 5–12 will play in the first round of the playoffs in four matchups.

A completely new line will be added to the standings table between places 14 and 15: the two last teams of Liiga will play a playout series, the winner of which will end their season, while the loser will continue in a relegation series against the champion of Mestis in spring 2025. The relegation series will be played in a best of seven format.

The winner of the relegation series will play in Liiga next season, while the loser will play in Mestis.
