Petteri Lindbohm opened his transfer to TPS – the question about Olli Jokinen left him speechless
TPS’s fresh defensive reinforcement, Petteri Lindbohm, who just joined the team on Monday, is pleased with his start at his new club.
The 32-year-old world and Olympic gold medalist unexpectedly found a playing spot in Turku after captain Niklas Friman was sidelined for months due to injury.
The beginning in a TPS jersey has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the defender.
– It has felt good. A good summer behind me and I’ve been able to train well. It’s nice to get to play these real games, Lindbohm stated after the 4-0 victory against Tappara on Thursday.
Lindbohm identified one clear area where the Turku team improved its performance after the Tuesday game against Jukurit, in which the Mikkeli team secured a harsh 4-1 away victory.
– Today, the battling and team play were at a much better level than against Jukurit, Lindbohm explained the significant improvement in his team’s performance compared to Tuesday’s game.
As an organization, TPS receives nothing but praise from the experienced defender.
– I have to say that the way Tepsi has handled my matters here… The contract came quite quickly, and they managed everything beautifully from the start and have tried to make my situation as easy as possible. The team has welcomed me well. It’s been nice to jump into the mix, Lindbohm appreciates.
The question about Olli Jokinen left him speechless
When asked about the differences between his last season’s team HIFK’s head coach Olli Jokinen and TPS’s head coach Toni Söderholm, Lindbohm chooses his words carefully.
– Well, um. I have at least liked it now. “Söder” has had a good vibe, and it’s been nice to be here, Lindbohm states after a long consideration.
The defender last played in the national team jersey during the 2023-24 season. A return to the Lions is not currently at the forefront of his mind.
– We take it one day at a time. I’m here to play now. The last couple of years have had many broken days, and in that sense, there has been a long journey to get myself into this shape. Now we are happy that the body is in good condition and the mind is clear. This is a pretty great sport to play.
Lindbohm has an option in his one-year TPS contract to move abroad. One can sense from the lines that the ultimate goals for the rest of the season may lie in foreign leagues.
– We’re living this everyday life one day at a time and enjoying being here. We’ll see case by case if something comes up, Lindbohm responds to inquiries about his plans for the rest of the season.
