Finnish defender Juuso Riikola, 32, will continue his career in the Swiss top league in the future. SCL Tigers announces that they have signed a two-year extension with Riikola, which will last until the spring of 2029.

Riikola is currently playing his fourth season with the Swiss club. He has become a key player in the team’s defense and is also part of the club’s captaincy. Riikola has recorded 11 points (3+8) in 17 games this season.

SCL Tigers’ sports director Pascal Müller praises the Finnish defender highly.

– Juuso is one of the most versatile defenders in the Swiss league. He combines exceptional skating skills, hockey sense, offensive power, and defensive reliability, Müller commented in the club’s announcement.

According to Müller, Riikola can influence the course of games with his movement and take responsibility in all game situations. The Finnish defender is an important part of the team’s play both on the power play and penalty kill.

– He has also become an important personality for us within the team. We are very pleased that our cooperation continues, Müller says.

Riikola has also been selected for the Lions team for the NOCCO Hockey Games tournament in November. The defender has participated in two World Championships during his career.

Earlier in his career, Riikola played 80 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and one season in the Swedish top league with Oskarshamn.
