It hit at TPS – Petteri Lindbohm is changing teams!
TPS’s defense is undergoing a significant change during the league season. Acquired in September, Petteri Lindbohm, 33, is leaving TPS and heading abroad.
TPS confirmed on Monday that it has terminated the contract of the experienced defenseman. The decision is based on the foreign option included in Lindbohm’s contract, which the player decided to utilize.
Lindbohm’s next destination is currently a mystery.
TPS acquired the defenseman who has won a world championship and Olympic gold to fill in for their injured captain Niklas Friman. Lindbohm was originally supposed to play in Turku for the rest of the season.
TPS’s sports director Mika Suoraniemi admits that the loss is unfortunate for the team.
– Losing Petteri is sportingly unfortunate for us, as he has been an excellent player for us during the early part of the season, Suoraniemi commented in TPS’s press release.
In connection with Lindbohm’s departure, TPS also shared significantly brighter news.
Friman’s recovery has progressed better than expected, and the captain may return to action soon after the national team break.
– According to the current assessment, a return may be possible soon after the national team break if the rehabilitation continues favorably, Suoraniemi reports.
TPS is currently sitting in eighth place in the league. The team’s point total is 31 points from 19 games.
