SC Bern’s Finnish forward Miro Aaltonen has come under heavy criticism in Switzerland.

Swiss Watson journalist Klaus Zaugg harshly criticizes Aaltonen in a recent article where he discusses Bern’s 1–8 home defeat to EV Zug on Saturday. Zaugg considers the poor performances of Bern’s foreign players to be the team’s biggest problem. He names Aaltonen, Sonny Milano, and Anton Lindholm as three failed foreign reinforcements.

– SC Bern is the only team in the league that has three foreign reinforcements that have turned out to be complete disappointments, Zaugg states bluntly.

Aaltonen, playing as the center of Bern’s top line, has only collected six points (1+5) in 17 games this season. Lindholm has gone completely without points in 13 games, and Milano has scored four points in eight games.

Zaugg does not hold back his words when assessing Bern’s foreign players.

– A total of three foreign player licenses are wasted on failed acquisitions. This is a serious problem, the journalist writes.

Zaugg also criticizes Bern’s player scouting, which he describes as poor. According to him, the team’s situation would be significantly better if all six foreign reinforcements in the lineup met the expectations set for them.

Aaltonen, 33, has been playing in Switzerland since the 2022-23 season. He initially represented EHC Kloten and moved to Bern in December 2024.

In his first season, Aaltonen scored an impressive 49 points in Switzerland. Last season, he recorded 22 points.

Aaltonen was part of the Olympic gold-winning team, the Lions, in 2022. He scored 3+1 points in six games during the tournament.
