IL: Big NHL revelation from Jesse Puljujärvi – significant clause in the contract
Jesse Puljujärvi, who is playing in Switzerland, is still aiming to return to the NHL. The Finnish forward’s recent long-term contract does not mean that his career in North America is definitively over.
Puljujärvi, 28, signed a three-year extension with Genève-Servette HC in October, which runs until the spring of 2030. However, he told Iltalehti in an interview that he is still aiming for a spot in the toughest hockey league in the world.
– I want to develop as a player. I still want to play an NHL game someday, that is my long-term goal. I am not satisfied with this league, Puljujärvi said to Iltalehti.
A potential NHL return has also been noted in Puljujärvi’s new contract. The forward revealed to Iltalehti that there is an NHL clause written into the contract for each year. Thus, he has the opportunity to move back to North America even before his contract ends.
Puljujärvi has played 387 regular season games in his NHL career. He has represented the Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Florida Panthers in the league.
Puljujärvi is currently playing his second season with Genève-Servette. He has started the season effectively, collecting 13 points in 13 games with a score of 6+7=13.
