IL: Jesse Puljujärvi out of the Lions – revealed the reason
Jesse Puljujärvi, who has started the season brilliantly in the Swiss league, will not participate in the EHT tournament held in Helsinki in November.
The Finnish forward representing Geneve-Servette confirms that he will not be seen in the Lions’ lineup at the home tournament.
– I will be missing the Helsinki tournament this time. I have personal reasons, he told Iltalehti.
Puljujärvi’s absence is a disappointing setback for the Lions and Finnish fans, as the forward has been in excellent form in the Swiss top league at the start of the season. A favorite among the public, he has scored six goals in the first eight regular season games and collected a total of 11 points.
Puljujärvi recently signed a long-term extension with his Swiss club, which runs until the spring of 2030.
However, skipping the Helsinki EHT tournament does not mean that Puljujärvi, who was part of last spring’s gold medal team, has given up on his national team dreams for this season.
On the contrary, the forward has a clear goal for next spring.
– The World Championships are definitely my goal, I want to be there in the spring.
The Finnish EHT tournament will be held at the Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki from November 5 to 8. The Lions will face Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Sweden in the tournament organized under the name NOCCO Hockey Games.
