The Swiss website Sport.ch has ranked the teams in the country’s top league based on which head coach is most likely to be fired during this season.

From a Finnish perspective, the list is harsh reading. The site estimates that Ville Peltonen, starting as the head coach of HC Ajoie, has a 75% probability of being fired. This is clearly the highest figure among all head coaches.

Ajoie has been at the bottom of the Swiss league for five consecutive times. Since its promotion to the top league, it has fired its head coach nearly every season.

– Ville Peltonen aims to be the first coach to make Ajoie competitive. If he succeeds, he will undoubtedly keep his position. But if Ajoie ends up in the relegation playoffs, Peltonen’s job is at risk, the site explains.

Other Finnish head coaches in the league can also be found at the top of the list. EV Zug’s Lauri Marjamäki has a 55% probability of being fired, while HC Ambri-Piotta’s Jussi Tapola has a 50% chance. Marjamäki is second on the list, and Tapola shares third place.

Marjamäki was hired by Zug at the end of April. Since then, the club has also changed its sports director and CEO, so the site describes the club’s situation as chaotic.

– Marjamäki was hired by the previous management, so it wouldn’t be surprising if poor performance led to a quick coaching change, the site writes.

Tapola moved to become the head coach of Ambri-Piotta in the middle of last season in January. The team finished second to last last season.

– There is a lot of new in Ambri-Piotta, and the question is whether the club has recovered from last season’s turmoil. Tapola faces a difficult task, as the roster looks quite weak on paper, the site notes.
