KooKoo gets a top reinforcement
KooKoo received a much-needed reinforcement on Saturday as star goalkeeper Eetu Randelin returned to action in the CHL home game against Dynamo Pardubice.
The 24-year-old Randelin has not played a single game this season due to injury. Now the wait is over at a moment when the team from Kouvola desperately needs a change in direction.
KooKoo’s start to the season has been difficult. The team has lost both of its games in the Liiga, and the performance has not been convincing in the CHL either, where they have only managed one win out of three games.
It is hard to overstate Randelin’s importance to KooKoo. He was one of the biggest sensations in the entire Liiga last season and led the Kouvola team all the way to the finals.
Randelin was awarded the best goalkeeper in the Liiga at the end of the season, and especially in the playoffs, he was in remarkable form. His save percentage in 18 playoff games was an impressive 93.5, and he allowed an average of only 1.55 goals per game.
Now KooKoo hopes that last spring’s sensational goalie will help the team take flight again in this season’s Liiga.
