Jesse Puljujärvi is buzzing in the NHL – a big revelation from an insider reporter

The most prominent figure of the Finnish national team that won gold in the spring World Championship, Jesse Puljujärvi, may be making a return to the NHL as soon as next season.

The Fourth Period insider reporter David Pagnotta reports that several NHL teams are interested in the Finnish winger a week before the free agency market opens.

– One week until the doors open for free agents. One player to watch is Jesse Puljujärvi. He had a monster season in the Swiss league. His hip injuries are a thing of the past, and I’ve been told that several teams looking for reinforcement for their second lines have shown a lot of interest, Pagnotta says.

Puljujärvi significantly raised his stock during the recently concluded season.

The 27-year-old forward was among the most effective players in the Swiss league, scoring 19 goals and 33 assists for a total of 52 points in 52 regular season games with Geneve-Servette.

His strong performances continued in the World Championships, where Puljujärvi was one of the leading forwards of the championship team. In ten games, he recorded 4 goals and 5 assists for a total of 9 points.

Puljujärvi was last seen in the NHL during the 2024–25 season. At that time, he played a total of 31 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers, recording 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points.

The biggest question mark in Puljujärvi’s career in recent years has been the impact of hip injuries on his playing. However, that concern now seems to have faded.

According to Pagnotta, NHL teams believe the Finnish player is once again in full playing condition, which has significantly increased his market value.
