Finnish forward Henrik Borgström continues his career with Fribourg-Gottéron. The reigning champion club of Switzerland secured the Finnish forward with a two-year extension well in advance.

Borgström was one of the core players of his team last season. The 29-year-old, raised by Jokerit, recorded 39 points with 11 goals and 28 assists in 47 regular season games. In the playoffs, the skilled player scored 12 points with 6 goals and 6 assists in 19 games.

The season ended in a historic manner, as Fribourg-Gottéron won the first Swiss championship in the club’s history by defeating Davos in the seventh game of the finals.

Borgström was drafted into the NHL by the Florida Panthers with the 23rd pick in the first round in 2016. In the NHL, the forward has played 111 games in his career.

Having represented the Lions in 11 A-international matches, Borgström has played only one season in the domestic league. The forward played for HIFK during the 2020-21 season and collected 21 points with 11 goals and 10 assists in 30 games.
