Jere Karalahti returns to the ring – facing Jokerit’s controversial goaltender
Former hockey players Jere Karalahti and Semir Ben-Amor will meet in a boxing match in Finland on January 30, 2027. The match between the two is part of the B2 Fight night.
Karalahti has boxed twice in the past year. He lost to Matias Niemi in the fall of 2025 and won against Mika “Immu” Ilmén this fall.
The event’s promoter Eemil Ordell stated in a press release that he expects Karalahti to prepare more carefully than before.
– Jere hasn’t necessarily prepared properly for his previous matches, but he will prepare for this one. In January, we will see a different Jere Karalahti.
– The friends have known each other for a long time, and neither wants to lose this.
Karalahti received a prison sentence of one year and nine months for a serious drug offense in the spring. The case is progressing to the Court of Appeal, and the sentence is not yet final.
In previous years, controversial forward Ben-Amor received a fine for assaulting HIFK’s Ville Peltonen during a match in the fall of 2012 while playing for Jokerit. In the league, this act led to an 18-match suspension at that time.
The venue for the match between Karalahti and Ben-Amor, as well as other matchups, will be announced later.
