MTV: HIFK headed to the player market – new reinforcement in sight!
HIFK is looking for a new reinforcement for its attack. Sports director Janne Laukkanen says to MTV Sports that the club is searching for a center forward following the surprising end of Jori Lehterä‘s career.
A suitable player has not yet been found, but Laukkanen assures that the search continues.
– Of course, we are constantly looking for a center forward. The challenge right now is that we haven’t found a player on the market who is interesting enough for that role. We have been searching hard for it and will continue the search. We will find it at some point. Let’s be patient, Laukkanen communicates.
Laukkanen commented on the acquisition situation during the first intermission of Thursday’s Jokerit match. According to him, the later start of other leagues is currently affecting the player market.
– We started the season almost a month earlier than others, and now that others have started, they will also begin making changes at some point. Let’s see what we can find.
HIFK is also considering acquiring a goalkeeper to replace the injured Tim Juelin. The decision depends on how his return schedule clarifies.
On Thursday, Hugo Alnefelt saved a point for HIFK, but Jokerit won the local match in overtime 3–2. HIFK has accumulated three wins and seven losses in its first ten games of the season.
