Pekka Jormakka returns to Jukurit. The Mikkeli club has signed a one-month trial contract with the 36-year-old forward, which also includes an option for the rest of the season.

Jormakka is already a familiar face for Jukurit. He represented the club for three seasons from 2021 to 2024 and served as the team’s captain in his last season.

Throughout his career, Jormakka has played 452 Liiga matches, representing not only Jukurit but also JYP, Tappara, and Pelicans. Jormakka also has experience with the national team and won a World Championship silver medal in 2014.

According to Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen, the background for acquiring Jormakka is the injuries in the team’s offensive line.

– Pekka is a familiar player and personality for us. He knows the club and our operating environment, and we both know what kind of qualities he can bring to our team. Two right-handed players in our offense got injured, and we had the opportunity to bring a familiar man back to Mikkeli. We took advantage of the opportunity, Hakkarainen commented in Jukurit’s announcement.

Jormakka started the current season with HKM Zvolen in Slovakia. He recorded 0+1 points in six matches with the club. Jormakka’s contract was not extended after the two-week trial period.
