Olli Palola: new team from Liiga!
Experienced Finnish forward Olli Palola, 38, has found a new team in the Liiga. HPK announces that it has signed a contract with Palola valid until November 1st.
Palola played last season with Ilves, where he recorded 14 points in 24 games with 7 goals and 7 assists. In the playoffs, he did not register any points in five games.
– Having Olli in the team brings a lot of experience. Due to injuries, we needed more depth in the offense. Olli is a game-changing player who also gives us opportunities in special situations, says Jukka Voutilainen, responsible for player scouting at HPK, in the club’s announcement.
Palola has won the Liiga’s scoring title twice with Tappara. In addition to the Liiga, he has played in the SHL, KHL, and for the national team. Throughout his career, Palola has achieved silver in the World Championships, silver in the SHL, and three silvers in the SM league.
Palola will be available for HPK already this coming weekend when the team faces JYP at home on Friday and Kärpät on Saturday.
