Finnish forward prospect Matias Vanhanen, 18, will play in the United States college league next season. He is moving to Boston College.

Vanhanen was drafted into the NHL this summer. The New Jersey Devils called his name in the 2nd round at pick 37.

Vanhanen has completed his first season in North America. He played in the junior league WHL with the Everett Silvertips, posting impressive stats of 21+66=87 in 62 regular season games and 12+12=24 in 18 playoff games. Vanhanen achieved the WHL championship with the team.

At the turn of last year, Vanhanen represented the Young Lions in the under-20 World Championships. He scored 0+6 in seven tournament games.

Before moving to the WHL, Vanhanen played in the juniors of HIFK. He also got to play five Liiga games with the team.
