MM-hopeavahti was allowed to leave the KHL – has now signed a tryout contract with an NHL team

The Vancouver Canucks have signed a tryout contract with goaltender Chris Driedger.
Driedger, 32, played 23 games last season in the KHL for Traktor Chelyabinsk with a save percentage of 89.7. However, his contract was terminated in November, and he did not play anywhere for the remainder of the season.
In his career, Driedger has played 67 regular season games and three playoff games in the NHL. He has represented the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, and Seattle Kraken. Most recently, Driedger played in the NHL during the 2023-24 season.
In the spring of 2022, Driedger represented Canada at the World Championships, winning a silver medal. At that time, Canada lost in the final to Finland.
General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the #Canucks have signed goaltender Chris Driedger to a Professional Tryout (PTO) agreement and hired Sean Finn as an Amateur Scout.
