Carolina Hurricanes acquired a former top draft pick who won World Championship gold.
The reigning Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes have acquired a new name for their roster. The team announces that they have signed a one-year contract with defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph. The contract is worth $850,000.
Joseph, 27, played last season with the Vancouver Canucks. He recorded 1+5 points in 31 games played.
In his NHL career, Joseph has played 225 games with a total of 9+37=46 points. In addition to Vancouver, he has represented the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues. Originally, Joseph was the 23rd overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 draft, but he did not play any NHL games for the team.
Joseph won gold at the World Championships with Team Canada in the spring of 2023. The tournament was held in Finland at that time.
