Massive blow to the League club – captain sidelined
The start of the season for TPS took an unfortunate turn in Vaasa when defender Niklas Friman was injured in Wednesday’s match against Sport.
According to TPS’s report, Friman’s absence is expected to last about three months based on the current assessment. A more precise return schedule will be determined as rehabilitation progresses.
Friman played in the top defensive pair for TPS at the start of the season and managed to record 1+1 points in two games. The defender, who won Olympic gold and a world championship with the Lions, is the captain of the Turku team.
Also absent from TPS’s core players are Veli-Matti Savinainen and Oliver Lauridsen. Savinainen may return to the rink in October, while Lauridsen has four games remaining from a suspension received at the end of last season.
TPS has won two out of three games this season.
