Jussi Tapola’s company in severe financial trouble – massive debts!
Serious financial difficulties have been revealed behind HC Ambrì-Piotta, led by Jussi Tapola, who was part of the coaching staff of the Lions in the last two seasons.
According to Swisshockeynews, the Swiss club has accumulated a debt burden of nearly 30 million Swiss francs, or over 30 million euros, in just a couple of years.
The majority of the debts consist of bank loans. However, among the creditors are also several private individuals and the Swiss federal government, to whom the club owes about three million euros from the pandemic period.
Ambrì-Piotta has tried to stabilize its situation by strengthening its equity. According to the club, last season equity was increased by about 2.22 million francs through capital increases.
The management has also been negotiating with banks and other creditors about balancing the finances.
Tapola became the head coach of Ambrì-Piotta in January. The club also has Finnish representation in its coaching staff, including Pasi Puistola. On the player side, the team will be represented this coming season by Roby Järventie and Jesse Virtanen.
