Former Leijonat forward found a new club – career continues in Germany
Jarno Kärki, who represented Ässiä and Tappara in Liiga, continues his career in new surroundings. The 31-year-old Finnish forward has signed a one-year contract with Eispiraten Crimmitschau, playing in Germany’s second-highest league, DEL2.
Kärki has played the last four seasons in the Swiss second tier. Now, the 194-centimeter forward’s career continues for the first time in Germany.
Crimmitschau states that the acquisition of Kärki was driven by the team’s Finnish head coach, Jussi Tuores, who is already familiar with the experienced forward.
– With Jarno, we are getting a very experienced forward who has already proven his scoring ability in the top leagues of Sweden and Finland, describes the team’s new acquisition, sports director Ronny Bauer.
Kärki has played over 300 Liiga matches in his career. The forward served as the captain of Ässät during the 2021–22 season.
The forward has also appeared in three A-international matches for the Lions.
Last season, Kärki demonstrated that his scoring touch is still intact. He recorded 16 goals and 24 assists for a total of 40 points in 46 regular-season games with GC Küsnacht Lions in the Swiss second tier.
