Another eight-year contract has been signed in the NHL!
The Washington Capitals have signed forward Justin Sourdif to an eight-year contract extension. The total value of the contract is $50.8 million, ensuring Sourdif an annual income of $6.35 million.
September 15 was the last day to make eight-year contracts in the NHL. From now on, the maximum is seven years. Sourdif was the last player to sign an eight-year contract.
Sourdif, 24, will play the upcoming season under a $825,000 contract. The new contract will take effect in a year and will run through the summer of 2035.
Originally, Sourdif was a 3rd round pick of the Florida Panthers in 2020. He played only four NHL games with the team before being traded to the Capitals in the summer of 2025. In his first season in Washington, Sourdif recorded 35 points in 78 games with a score of 15+20.
