The Jokerit league season home opener ended in defeat. JYP took the points from Veikkaus Arena with a final score of 4-2 and continues to have a clean record after four matches. Jokerit, on the other hand, has lost all four of its games, collecting only one point.

Jokerit got off to a flying start in the game. Maxime Fortier opened the team’s scoring just 14 seconds in. However, JYP equalized in the first period with a goal from Jere Lassila and took the lead with a strike from Trent Bourque.

Jokerit managed to level the game at 2-2 when Max Krogdahl scored. It didn’t take long for JYP to break away again, this time for good, as Eetu Peltola netted JYP’s third and Lassila scored his second of the night for JYP’s fourth goal.

Veini Vehviläinen started the game in goal for Jokerit but left the ice after two periods. Olle Eriksson Ek stepped in for him. Vehviläinen made only ten saves in two periods, while Eriksson Ek recorded three saves and did not concede any goals. In goal for JYP, Oskari Salminen was credited with 30 saves.

In other matches on Thursday, TPS defeated Tappara 4-0, led by a shutout from Eetu Mäkiniemi. Sport, on the other hand, won against Lukko in Rauma with a score of 2-1, with Philip Granath scoring both goals for the Vaasalaiset.
