Transfer against Canada threatened – Only ten players in the Women’s Lions’ practice!
MILANO. The situation of the Women’s Lions looks concerning as the Olympics are about to begin.
Today, Thursday, a match against Canada is scheduled to start at 22:10 Finnish time.
A stomach virus began to spread in the team late Tuesday evening, and six players were isolated due to the illness. Wednesday’s practice was canceled, and there have been no updates on the health situation of the team since then.
At the time of writing, the Women’s Lions started their game day practice, and only ten players appeared on the ice: two goalkeepers and eight skaters.
Currently, it seems that the match against Canada cannot be played. According to the rules, there must be at least two goalkeepers and 15 skaters in the lineup. The entire Finnish team consists of three goalkeepers and 20 skaters.
It is, of course, possible that some healthy players will not participate in the practice. After the practice, clarity on the situation should be obtained.
