Tappara heads into Friday’s local match in Tampere from a very difficult starting point. The team’s injury situation is grim just before the Ilves encounter.

Fresh lineup details reveal that Tappara’s entire first line is still out. Benjamin Rautiainen, Aapeli Räsänen, and Joachim Blichfeld will not play on Friday.

Of the trio, Blichfeld has been out for six consecutive Liiga matches. The Dane is the only player from Tappara to reach a point-per-game pace.

And that’s not all. Also missing from the lineup is the number one goalie Christian Heljanko. Starting in goal will be Juha Metsola, with Alex Mäkelä, borrowed from Nokian Pyry, as the backup.

From the defense, Olle Strandell and Kasper Kulonnummi are also out.

Tappara at least gets one reinforcement, as the recently acquired Tommi Kivistö will make his debut immediately against his former team. The experienced defenseman will play alongside Jyrki Jokipakka.

Ilves also has absences. First center Lukas Jasek and defenseman Leo Lööf are missing from the lineup.

Ilves heads into the season’s first local battle from fifth place in the standings. Tappara is in ninth.
