The Dallas Stars will have to cope without their star forward Mikko Rantanen for the next few weeks. Rantanen is sidelined for at least two weeks due to a lower body injury, and the absence may extend longer.

Head coach Glen Gulutzan told the media on Tuesday that this is not just a matter of a few days off. However, he assured that Rantanen will return before the end of the regular season.

Rantanen was injured during the Milan Olympic tournament and was unable to play in the bronze medal match against Slovakia due to the injury.

The absence is a significant blow for the Stars: Rantanen leads the team’s internal scoring race with 20+49=69 points in 54 games. Rantanen was on a strong pace towards a hundred points.
