Harsh assessment: This Leijonat player failed at the Olympics – a harsh impact on their NHL career
Seattle Kraken forward Eeli Tolvanen was unable to impress as expected in the ranks of the Lions, reports DailyFaceoff.
During the tournament, he played an average of only 10 minutes and 42 seconds per game and was completely left out of the lineup in the quarterfinals against Canada. In four matches, Tolvanen scored only one goal without assists, before collecting a couple of assists in the bronze match when Mikko Rantanen got injured.
– Tolvanen is known for his speed and physical play, but the Milan tournament did not give him the opportunity to showcase his full potential. Limited playing time and being left out of the lineup in an important game naturally also reflect on his NHL trade value, DailyFaceoff writes.
The Kraken is still fighting for a playoff spot, so the team cannot be directly considered as one that is actively selling players. However, the situation may change towards the end of the season, which could make Tolvanen’s trade possible. Tolvanen’s NHL contract expires at the end of this season.
Ristolainen solidified his position
It was a different story for Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen. He played significant minutes in the tournament, succeeded in battles, and was a key player in Finland’s bronze team.
– It’s no surprise that half a dozen teams are calling GM Danny Briere about Ristolainen.
Ristolainen’s strong tournament raises his value in the trade market before the season’s trade deadline, and several teams are closely monitoring his situation, reports DailyFaceoff.
