New information has emerged regarding the condition of Mikko Rantanen, who was injured in the Olympic ice hockey tournament.

Due to a lower body injury, the star winger, who watched the bronze match against Slovakia from the stands, will be on sick leave according to insider reporter Elliotte Friedman, and will not be available for his team, the Dallas Stars, at least in the near future.

– Rantanen took a hit, and I believe he will be out for a while. I’m not saying it’s a season-ending injury, but I think he will be sidelined for some time, Friedman says in his 32 Thoughts podcast.

Rantanen’s loss is huge for the Stars, as the Finn is the team’s most effective scorer this season.

With 20 goals and 49 assists for a total of 69 points in 54 games, Rantanen was on track for a hundred-point regular season before the Olympic tournament.
