Finnish forward tackled his compatriot in the head and was sent to the showers in Sweden – lost his temper: “He is absolutely furious”
The Finnish forward from Luleå, Valtteri Puustinen, made a disappointing return to the rink on Thursday in the Swedish SHL.
Puustinen received a game misconduct just four minutes into the game when Luleå faced Björklöven at home.
The Finnish forward checked Björklöven’s Finnish forward Joel Mustonen in the head at 3:36. The referees reviewed the situation on video and penalized Puustinen with a game misconduct for the head check.
According to Swedish media Hockeysverige, Puustinen did not accept the penalty. The Finnish forward yelled at the referees on his way to the locker room and slammed his stick against the wall as he left the ice.
– He is absolutely furious, TV4 expert Adam Johansson said about Puustinen.
The situation also sparked strong reactions in the stands, where the home crowd booed the decision.
Puustinen had just returned to the lineup after an injury. He had missed the previous two games. This season, Puustinen has played 11 games in the SHL with a total of 4+2 points.
Despite the early ejection, Luleå prevailed, defeating Björklöven 4–0.
