Buzz around the NHL star of the Lions – interest in the trade market has exploded!
Rasmus Ristolainen‘s strong performances in the Milano-Cortina Olympic tournament have increased the buzz around a possible NHL trade for the player.
The Philadelphia Flyers, the team the defender represents in the NHL, are once again seeing their playoff hopes dashed, as the team has fallen eight points behind the last playoff spot.
According to Daily Faceoff, the Olympic tournament has significantly raised Ristolainen’s value in the trade market. The site reports, citing its sources, that as many as half a dozen NHL teams are currently interested in the 31-year-old defender.
– I have heard that five or six teams have made inquiries about Ristolainen in the last two weeks, and rumors suggest that interest is growing, claims Anthony Di Marco from Daily Faceoff.
The journalist states that at least the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins are among the teams interested in Ristolainen. The defender, who has played 13 seasons in the NHL, has never appeared in the league’s playoffs during his career.
Ristolainen’s contract extends through next season. The defender earns $5.1 million per season from his current deal.
