Mountfield HK announces that Finnish defender Tommi Kivistö is leaving the team. In his place, the club has acquired Danish player Anders Koch, who will join the team on a 1+1 year contract.

Kivistö’s contract with Mountfield would have covered next season as well, but it was terminated at Kivistö’s request. The termination of Kivistö’s contract occurred due to serious family reasons.

– We are really sorry that Tommi is not continuing with us, as he was one of our best defensive players and a great professional. However, there are more important things in life than hockey. We wish Tommi all the best and thank him greatly for the work he has done for our club, Mountfield’s GM Ales Kmonicek commented in the club’s announcement.

Kivistö, 35, represented Mountfield for one season and recorded 46 regular season games with stats of 0+4 and a plus/minus of +14. In the playoffs, he played five games without scoring. Before last season, Kivistö played for Kärpät for three seasons.

Mountfield immediately replaced Kivistö with Danish national team defender Koch. Last season, he played in the ICEHL for Graz99ers, appearing in 38 regular season games with points of 1+18=19 and five playoff games with stats of 2+2.

Koch, 28, played in the 2024-25 season in Liiga for Kiekko-Espoo. He recorded 42 games with points of 4+8=12.
