Finnish defender Aleksi Mäkelä will continue his career in Poland next season. Unia Oswiecim announces that they have signed a one-year contract with Mäkelä.

Mäkelä, 32, also played in Poland last season. He represented the JKH GKS Jastrzebie team, playing 39 regular season games with points of 5+26=31 and 14 playoff games with scores of 0+2. The team won bronze at the end of the season.

While playing in the Liiga, Mäkelä has represented Kärpät and Sport. He won the Finnish championship with Kärpät in the spring of 2018 and silver in 2019. In his Liiga career, Mäkelä has played a total of 253 regular season games (11+24=35) and 11 playoff games (1+0).

After leaving the Liiga for abroad, Mäkelä also played in Italy and Scotland before moving to Poland.
