Terrible news about the NHL star goalie: the season is over!
Vancouver Canucks’ GM Patrik Allvin confirms that the team’s star goalie Thatcher Demko has ended his season. Demko will undergo hip surgery, which means he will not play again this season.
Demko, 30, has suffered from numerous injuries in recent years. This season, he managed to play only 20 games with a save percentage of 89.7.
– Thatcher will be operated on next week. The injury is not related to his injury from last season that kept him out. After his rehabilitation period, he will be ready to return to action at the training camp in September, Allvin says.
With Demko’s absence, the Canucks’ Finnish goalie Kevin Lankinen will have to work even harder. He has played 28 games this season with a save percentage of 88.4. This season, Nikita Tolopilo has also been seen in goal for the Canucks in six games and Jiri Patera in one game.
