John Tortorella, who led the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup finals, said in an interview with The Athletic that he hopes for a new coaching position right away for the next season.

Tortorella would have liked to continue in Vegas, but the organization decided otherwise.

– I want to coach. I want to coach now. I don’t know if that will happen. I wanted to coach Vegas and I told them that, Tortorella commented.

Tortorella came to Vegas as a coach mid-season and now feels that the job was left unfinished.

– I would use the word “disappointed,” Tortorella noted about his feelings.

The experienced coach had a discussion with GM Kelly McCrimmon after the finals series.

Tortorella said he believes the organization has a bright future, even though the choice did not fall on him.

– He (McCrimmon) told me right away that Ryan Craig will coach the team next season. I said what I think about it. We had an honest conversation, Tortorella said.
