Now the news has come – IL: Jesse Puljujärvi’s World Championship medal fate has been revealed
Jesse Puljujärvi‘s missing World Championship gold medal has been replaced with a new medal.
Iltalehti was the first to report on the matter. The Finnish Ice Hockey Association’s communications director Henna Malmberg confirmed the information to the newspaper.
The new medal was seen in a TikTok video published on Tuesday by a content creator working for the Ice Hockey Association. In the video, Puljujärvi lifts his World Championship gold medal from the water using a fishing rod and poses with the medal around his neck at the end.
Puljujärvi was part of the Finnish championship team and played ten matches in the World Championships. The forward finished the tournament with 4+5 points as the Lions celebrated their championship victory after a final win over Switzerland in overtime.
The original World Championship gold medal went missing in early June at a karaoke bar in downtown Helsinki after the championship celebrations. The lost medal has still not been found.
– The medal was on tour. People got to see it, but my medal was never returned, the hockey star reported to IL at that time.
Puljujärvi also previously mentioned that he suspected the medal had been stolen.
