The league club secured its foreign reinforcement: “An important part of our team”
KooKoo has made a one-year extension with Swedish defender Joseph Berger.
Berger, 26, joined KooKoo’s team mid-way through last season from the SHL club Malmö Redhawks. Berger played 31 regular-season games in Kouvola last season, scoring 1+8 points, and 16 playoff games with 1+5 points, achieving silver with the team. Berger’s plus/minus in the regular season was +20 and +8 in the playoffs.
– We are very pleased that Joseph Berger will continue with us. Joseph made a strong entry into the team mid-way through last season and he has proven to be an important part of our team both on and off the ice. Joseph brings us continuity and we believe he will be a big piece of the team for the upcoming season, commented sports director Antti Tuomenoksa in KooKoo’s announcement.
Berger has played 55 SHL games and 126 Allsvenskan games in his career.
– I am really excited to wear the KooKoo jersey again! This year will be thrilling, full of games and new memories. I am looking forward to the new season and I am very happy to be back, commented Berger on his continuation with KooKoo.
