The league team found a statistical monster – the new foreign reinforcement was the top player of last season
HPK has made a two-year contract with Swedish goalkeeper Jacob Crespín. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is moving to Hämeenlinna from the second highest league in Sweden, HockeyAllsvenskan.
Crespin played the last two seasons with Kalmar HC. Last season, he recorded a save percentage of 92.2 in HockeyAllsvenskan and an average of 1.97 goals against.
HPK’s player scouting responsible Jukka Voutilainen states that the club has acquired a goalkeeper who was the most successful in the league last season.
– Jacob is a large-sized goalkeeper who broke through in Sweden at a later age, whom we have been following for a long time and from whom we received good recommendations. Last season, he won the most matches of all goalkeepers in HockeyAllsvenskan and was the absolute top goalkeeper in the entire league. With Jacob’s arrival, we have a really high-quality trio of goalkeepers assembled for the upcoming season. It’s fantastic that we reached an agreement with Jacob and he committed to our club for the next two seasons.
With Crespin’s contract, HPK’s goalkeeper situation is ready for next season. The club also has contracts with Kim Saarinen and Max Väyrynen.
HPK also announced that they have signed a 2+1 year junior contract with 17-year-old Filip Klíman.
