Stanley Cup champion with over a thousand NHL games placed on waivers – new team revealed
The San Jose Sharks have claimed defenseman Nick Leddy off waivers. St. Louis Blues had previously placed Leddy on waivers.
Leddy, 34, has represented St. Louis since spring 2022. Due to injuries, he only played 31 regular-season games last season, scoring 2+3 points, and seven playoff games with 0+1 points. Leddy’s four million dollar contract per season still covers the next season.
In his NHL career, Leddy has played a total of 1,042 regular-season games (75+341=416) and 137 playoff games (8+31=39). Previously, he has also played for the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and Detroit Red Wings. Leddy won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2013.
With recent moves, the Sharks have exceeded the NHL salary cap. In addition to acquiring Leddy, the team recently signed Dmitri Orlov to a two-year contract worth 6.5 million dollars per season.
