The Montreal Canadiens are preparing for a trade according to several sources.
TVA Sports reporter Jaen-Charles Lajoie states on X that the Canadiens would be trading the team legend Carey Price‘s contract to another NHL team on Monday.
The Canadiens will pay Price a $5.5 million signing bonus on Monday, after which the Canadian is expected to change scenery. Price, who last played in the NHL in the spring of 2022, has a contract that takes up $10.5 million in cap space.
According to RG magazine reporter Marco D’Amico, the San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Pittsburgh Penguins are willing to take on Price’s contract in their salary cap. These teams want to get above the salary floor with Price’s contract.
