Patrik Laine has a door ajar to the NHL – another goal scorer may get there first
Patrik Laine is still without an NHL contract. The Calgary Flames have discussed with the Finnish forward, but the team is also negotiating with other players, reported The Fourth Period editor-in-chief Frank Seravalli on Sportsnet.
One of the options is Vladimir Tarasenko, who scored 23 goals and 47 points last season with the Minnesota Wild.
– Patrik Laine is not the only free forward that the Calgary Flames are in discussions with after a difficult start to the season. Still without a contract are Vladimir Tarasenko, David Perron, James van Riemsdyk, and Jonathan Drouin, Seravalli wrote.
Calgary needs a goal scorer. The team has only scored three goals in its first three games of the season and has allowed 16.
Before acquiring a new player, the Flames plan to give opportunities to young forwards like Aydar Sunieville and Jonathan Castagnalle.
