Filip Hallander, who has had an effective start to the season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, is moving to the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers announce they will send defenseman Spencer Stastney to Pittsburgh in the trade.

The 26-year-old Swedish center Hallander has recorded 1+2 points in his first two games of the season. He has a total of 18 games and seven points in his NHL career. He has mostly played in North America in the AHL.

Pittsburgh, on the other hand, receives a 26-year-old defenseman who played the most games of his NHL career last season. Stastney appeared in a total of 66 games for Edmonton and the Nashville Predators and set his career-high with 2+8=10 points.

Stastney has played 117 regular-season games in the NHL with 4+15=19 points. Additionally, he has three playoff games to his credit in Nashville.

The American’s contract runs through the end of the 2026–27 season. Its average annual salary is $1.525 million.
