The Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins have made a trade in the NHL.

In the trade, Pittsburgh receives Canadian defenseman Matt Dumba and a 2nd round draft pick for 2028. In return, Dallas gets Belarusian defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok.

Dumba, 30, represented Dallas for one season. He played 63 games with the team, recording 1+9 points. Dumba did not get any playing time in the playoffs.

With the trade, Dallas gained cap space. Dumba’s contract, which guarantees $3.75 million per season, is still in effect for next season.

In his NHL career, Dumba has played 737 regular season games (84+174=258) and 54 playoff games (5+10=15). He has spent most of his NHL career representing the Minnesota Wild. Two seasons ago, he played for the Arizona Coyotes and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Kolyachonok, 24, played 23 games last season in Utah, scoring 2+3 points, and 12 games in Pittsburgh with 0+2 points. He has played a total of 74 NHL games, recording 4+10=14 points.

Kolyachonok was originally a 2nd round draft pick (#52) of the Florida Panthers in 2019. His contract, which guarantees $775,000 per season, is still valid for next season.
