Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers’ ongoing contract negotiations are being closely monitored in the NHL.

The superstar’s next contract is believed to be the largest in terms of annual salary ever signed in the NHL. Insider Elliotte Friedman has now shared new information about the timeline of the negotiations.

– I see it happening. All parties want to get this done.

– I expect that during the time between Canada’s Olympic camp and the training camp, the parties will sit down to figure out how to finalize the contract, Friedman reveals on his 32 Thoughts podcast.

McDavid’s annual salary is expected to surpass that of the team’s other superstar Leon Draisaitl, whose contract will take effect this fall. The German’s deal has an annual salary of 14 million dollars. McDavid will earn 12.5 million dollars this season under his old contract.
