The Lions started their semi-final match in the Olympic tournament in Milan-Cortina against Canada’s super team with a bang and went to the first intermission leading 1-0.
YLE Sports expert Ismo Lehkonen highlights two standout players from the Lions based on the events of the first period.
– Niko Mikkola and Rasmus Ristolainen, they are big guys, they don’t take hostages, they show no mercy. Absolutely incredible battling for the puck. They go for loose pucks with full throttle and their puck-handling performance is at an unbelievably high level, Lehkonen praises the Lions’ massive second defense pair.
The Lions’ opening goal was scored on the power play by Mikko Rantanen.
