Forward Oliver Wahlstrom, 26, holding passports from the United States and Sweden, is leaving North America to join the SHL. He has signed a one-year contract with Djurgården.

Wahlstrom was the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders. He has played 236 regular season games in the NHL (37+36=73) and five playoff games (1+2), primarily representing the Islanders. In the 2024-25 season, he also played 16 games with the Boston Bruins, which are his last NHL games.

Throughout last season, Wahlstrom played in the AHL. He recorded 42 points (24+18) in 62 regular season games with the San Jose Barracuda and added 3 points (0+3) in two playoff games.

Wahlstrom last played in Sweden during the 2020-21 season. At that time, he briefly played in the Allsvenskan with AIK and recorded 8 points (4+4) in ten games.
