The Swiss NL club HC Lugano announces that Swedish forward Linus Omark will no longer continue with the team.

Omark, 38, joined Lugano in September on a two-month contract. He played 15 games for the team, scoring 4+7=11 points.

Lugano and Omark negotiated a contract for the remainder of the season, but ultimately Omark declined Lugano’s offer due to family reasons. Omark would have been willing to stay in Switzerland if a suitable solution for his daughters’ education in the country had been found.

Throughout his long career, Omark has played not only in Switzerland but also in the NHL, AHL, KHL, and SHL. He has won championships both in Sweden and Switzerland. Omark has represented Tre Kronor in four World Championships and one Olympics, winning a world championship and two World Championship bronze medals.

During the 2014-15 season, Omark was seen with Jokerit in the KHL. He played 60 regular-season games with strong stats of 16+30=46 and ten playoff games with 3+6=9 points.
