The defender Mikko “Bobi” Lehtonen, who plays in the Finnish national team, represents the Swiss top club ZSC Lions at the club level, so he is currently playing in the World Championships in the familiar city and arena of Zurich.

Also in the Viaplay World Championship studio is Mikko Lehtonen. He also played for one season with ZSC Lions during his career.

Expert “Bambi” Lehtonen shared a funny story in the Viaplay studio after the match between Finland and Latvia, when the full names got mixed up.

– I played here (at ZSC Lions) for years before he (Bobi) came here. The years went by, and then the GM of Zurich had asked some agent to give him Mikko Lehtonen’s number and contact details. He accidentally sent my contact details. I was already half-retired, then the GM from Zurich calls me and sends an email with a contract offer. I thought, that’s quite a big deal for a retired player, “Bambi” chuckled.

– So I talked to the GM and said that you might be targeting another Mikko Lehtonen right now. Or am I coming back with one leg completely amputated? We laughed together at the mix-up. I just thought, should I have taken the joke all the way, “Bambi” continued.

– Just quickly put the name on the paper, the other Viaplay expert Jussi Jokinen chimed in.

– It was quite funny. The Mikko Lehtonens got mixed up. And it wasn’t the first time, “Bambi” concluded his story.
