Detroit finally broke the silence regarding Dylan Larkin – a tough action from the team
Detroit captain Dylan Larkin requested a trade from the team this summer. Throughout his long career, the 30-year-old center has only played five playoff games, and rumors suggest that poor performance is behind the trade request.
Now Detroit and Larkin have broken the radio silence regarding the trade request.
– Over the past few weeks, I have had several in-depth discussions with the Red Wings management. I have appreciated these direct conversations, and I will be attending training camp with my teammates. As the new management is in place, we will talk more about the direction of the team. We will keep those discussions private, and I will keep my focus on the upcoming season and the guys in the locker room, Larkin says.
Detroit’s statement was more concise. The team reminded that Larkin has a valid contract and that future discussions will be held privately. At the same time, the team revealed that Larkin will no longer be captain in the upcoming season and that Detroit will start the season without a captain.
Larkin served as Detroit’s captain for the past six seasons.
